A Leader's Story

One leader. A network of congregations. The exponential power of equipping leaders.

A ministry leader serving across India

One leader oversees a network of congregations across his region. The kingdom multiplies.

In India, some pastors oversee networks of many congregations. Each church has its own pastor, its own community, its own spiritual life. Each is a body of Christ worshipping and serving in its community.

If you trace these networks back, you're looking at thousands of believers, reaching across multiple regions, all flowing from the work of faithful leadership and vision. This isn't a megachurch. This is a movement. This is what the kingdom looks like when it multiplies exponentially.

How One Leader Serves Many Congregations

The question is obvious: how does one person oversee many churches? The answer reveals a profound truth about kingdom leadership.

A leader like this doesn't build every church alone. Instead, they equip and release leaders. They multiply by training. They grow by discipling. They create a culture where every pastor understands their role in advancing the kingdom, not just maintaining their own congregation.

They develop a structure of accountability and support where pastors are connected to one another, learning together, helping one another, sharing resources. They create a network rather than trying to be the sole authority. They lead not because they're the most talented, but because they're the one who sees and releases the talents in others.

The Biblical Pattern

This pattern is not new. It's the pattern Jesus Himself modeled. Jesus trained twelve who went and did the works that He did. More than that, He trained twelve to train others. He worked himself out of a job by raising up leaders who could do the work without Him.

Paul did the same. He served and strengthened local churches not by establishing himself as the eternal pastor of each congregation, but by equipping local leaders, elders and deacons, who would shepherd the flock after he moved on. He wrote to Timothy about entrusting what he'd learned "to faithful men who will be able to teach others also" (2 Timothy 2:2).

Leaders in India are doing the same. They're not the bottleneck. They're the catalyst. And because of that, the gospel isn't limited by their capacity but multiplied by their vision.

The Math of the Kingdom

Think about the numbers differently:

  • •Many congregations in a leader's network, each reaching their own communities
  • •Thousands of believers strengthened and discipled through these churches
  • •Generations impacted as these churches disciple the next generation
  • •A model of multiplication that can be replicated in other regions and countries

Now consider: what made this possible? At some point, someone invested in training that leader. Someone believed in them. Someone gave them tools and theology and confidence. And from that investment, a network of churches emerged.

The Return on Investment

In business, Return on Investment (ROI) is calculated by dividing the profit by the cost. In kingdom work, the ROI of equipping leaders is extraordinary.

Suppose it cost several thousand dollars over several years to train a leader. And suppose that leader has, over a lifetime, developed many of the pastors who are now leading churches. That means a modest investment per pastor developed, each of whom is now pastoring congregations, discipling believers, and potentially developing other leaders.

But the ROI isn't measured in dollars. It's measured in souls reached, in communities transformed, in the kingdom of God advancing. It's measured in believers living out their faith, families experiencing grace, communities experiencing the testimony of Christ.

Why Indigenous Leadership Matters

There are many wonderful Western missionaries working in India. But there's something irreplaceable about indigenous leadership. A local leader understands the culture, the language, the context. They know what challenges their region faces. They can relate to their people's joys and sorrows in a way that outsiders cannot.

When you equip indigenous leaders, you're not creating dependency on outside resources. You're building a sustainable, locally-rooted movement that can multiply and grow for generations without needing Western support or presence.

A network of churches led by Indian Christians represents the Kingdom of God being advanced by the people who live in the region, speak the language, and understand the culture.

What Would Happen If We Invested More?

Consider this: if every pastor in a leader's network experienced formal Bible training, systematic theology, pastoral care, leadership development, how much stronger would these churches become? How much more capable would they be of discipling believers and serving their communities?

This is why we're investing in the Awakening Bible Training Center. We're not trying to train every pastor in India, which is impossible. We're trying to create an institution where pastors can access training that will strengthen their ministries and multiply their effectiveness.

The Challenge and the Opportunity

This story raises a challenge and an opportunity. The challenge is this: there are many pastor networks like this across India, and they're operating without adequate resources or formal training. The opportunity is this: equipping these networks is one of the highest-impact investments we can make in global ministry.

A $3,000 investment in training one pastor could strengthen ministry that impacts thousands. A $50,000 investment in a Bible Training Center could equip dozens of leaders over several years. A $500,000 endowment could ensure that training opportunities exist for generations.

"My role isn't to be the pastor of every church. My role is to equip pastors to lead their churches well and multiply what God is doing."

How to Support Bible Training

If this story compels you, here are ways to support Bible training for leaders like these:

  • •Sponsor a pastor's training: $3,000 provides a year of Bible Training
  • •Fund curriculum development: Help us create contextual biblical materials
  • •Build a training facility: Help us establish our center in Raipur
  • •Ongoing partnership: Monthly giving to sustain training operations
