How We Work

Our Accountability Commitment

If Labor of Love is going to mobilize churches and partners, we must build accountability into the DNA of every relationship — not as a compliance burden, but as an act of faithful stewardship.

"Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much." — Luke 16:10

Why Accountability Is Non-Negotiable

The moment Labor of Love engages a partner — a church, an orphanage, a community leader — we become stewards of other people's trust. Those who give to us believe we will ensure their generosity reaches its intended destination with integrity.

Without a clear accountability framework, we risk three things:

Eroded Trust

Partners who feel uncertain about outcomes lose confidence in the mission.

Wasted Resources

Even well-meaning partners can steward poorly without structure.

Broken Relationships

A single high-profile failure can set back the entire mission.

Accountability isn't bureaucracy — it's love made visible. It protects the child, the partner we're walking with, and everyone who trusted us with their resources and reputation.

Our Four Core Principles

Relationship Before Resources

We visit, verify, and establish a genuine relationship before any support is extended. Every partner we work alongside is a partner we know personally — not just a name on a form.

Milestone-Based Progress

Support is released in stages tied to agreed-upon milestones. Completion of one phase opens the door to the next. This protects both the partner and the people we serve.

Documented Impact

Every project requires photo documentation, headcounts, and narrative reports. If we were involved, we can show exactly what was accomplished and who was served.

Local Leadership Owned

We walk alongside local leaders who were already doing the work — not create dependency on us. Accountability flows both ways: we're accountable to them for reliable partnership, and they're accountable to us for faithful stewardship.

Readiness Checkpoints for Church Partners

Before moving a church partner to the next stage of engagement, each phase has a readiness checkpoint.

Inspire

Has the church articulated a clear, Scripture-grounded motivation — not just enthusiasm?

Explore

Do we understand their community need, capacity, and existing programs?

Equip

Has training been completed? Is there a point person with clear responsibility?

Fund

Is there a written project plan with a timeline and measurable goals?

Launch

Is there a local champion who owns this — not Labor of Love?

The framework is the gate. A church that hasn't been equipped shouldn't be launched without the right foundations in place.

Warning Signs We Take Seriously

If any of the following appear, we pause the partnership and have a direct conversation before moving forward.

  • Resistance to documentation or reporting requests
  • Inability to explain how resources will be used in concrete terms
  • No local church or community involvement in the project
  • Leadership that is not accountable to any local board or body
  • Projects that create dependency rather than building local capacity

The Other Direction

We Are Accountable Too

Accountability in every relationship flows both ways. We hold partners accountable for stewardship — and our partners, donors, and board hold us accountable for reliability, transparency, and mission alignment.

To our donors

We publish annual impact reports and program updates so every partner knows what their investment produced.

To our church partners

We commit to clear timelines, honest communication, and showing up — not just when we need something from them.

To our board

Strategic decisions require board awareness and approval. Nothing significant happens unilaterally.

To the children we serve

Every decision is filtered through one question: does this actually help the child, or does it just feel good to us?

"We don't want to be the kind of organization that talks about transparency — we want to be the kind that makes it structurally impossible to be anything else."
